Accreditation

All degree programs at The New School are registered by the New York State Department of Education (NYSED). The New School has been regionally accredited by Middle States Commission of Higher Education (MSCHE) since 1960. Both NYSED and MSCHE, a federally recognized body, provide assurance to students, parents and all stakeholders that The New School meets clear quality standards for educational and financial performance. Online Programs

State Authorization

The New School monitors developments in state laws in every state. If authorization or licensure is necessary or becomes necessary, The New School will obtain the required additional approvals. The New School is currently authorized, licensed, exempt, or not subject to approval in Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, South Carolina, South Dakota, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, and Wyoming. Exemptions/authorizations for states not listed are currently in progress.

State Contact Information

Pursuant to the United States Department of Education’s Program Integrity Rule, each institution of higher education is required to provide all prospective and current students with the contact information of the state agency or agencies that handles complaints against postsecondary education institutions offering distance learning within that state. Students are encouraged to utilize The New School’s internal complaint or review policies and procedures prior to filing a complaint with a state agency.
