Transcript Request

Any students who took a course for credit or certificate approval can obtain an official transcript by submitting a transcript request form to the registrar's office (contact information in the box to the right). Please allow seven business days for processing transcript requests if you graduated before 1983 and five business days if you graduated since.

If you graduated post 1992, you can download an unofficial Web version of your transcript verifying your degree and graduation year and more by logging on to my.NewSchool. If you have never used my.NewSchool, you need your university ID (N number) and NetID to access your account. If you know your N Number, you can recover your NetID and password by going to the NetID online manager. If you do not remember your N number, call the Office of Alumni Relations at 212.229.5662 x3784 for assistance.

For more information about transcripts and registrar's office business hours, go to the Registrar's Office website.

Obtaining Degree Confirmation (New Graduates Only)

The registrar mails diplomas to May graduates in mid-August and to January graduates in mid-March. International students must allow 4-6 weeks for delivery.

Note: If you filed for graduation and did not graduate, you will receive a letter from the Registrar's Office in July or February. (If you graduated, your diploma serves as notice that your degree has been conferred, and you will not receive a letter.)

If you have not received your diploma or letter about your graduation status by late March (January graduates) or late August (May graduates), please call the Registrar's Office at 212.229.5620.

Obtaining New School Course Descriptions for Other Schools or an Employer

To receive printed descriptions of courses you have taken, send a written request to the registrar's office via fax or mail. The registrar will process requests for a maximum of 10 course descriptions at a time. The turnaround time for requests is usually seven business days. If you have questions about the status of your request, you can contact the Registrar's Office at 212.229.5620.
