Campus Visit Programs
The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music encourages all visitors to take part in the three campus visit programs that we conduct weekly.
The Jazz Information Session and Campus Tour is offered every Tuesday and Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. throughout the spring and fall semesters. This tour is our most comprehensive campus visit program.
The New School Overview and Campus Tour is offered most Fridays at 10:30 a.m. throughout the spring and fall semesters. This tour is suitable for first-time visitors and those not ready to talk to an admission counselor from the Jazz division.
The BA/BFA Dual-Degree Information Session and Campus Tour takes place on Thursdays at 12:00 noon. This information session is designed specifically for prospective students who are interested in our dual-degree program with Eugene Lang College The New School for Liberal Arts.
For more information about New School campus visit programs and to book a campus visit, go to the online registration page. Campus tours fill up; we recommend registering at least one week in advance.
Audition Preparation Workshop
The Audition Preparation Workshop, for high school sophomores and juniors, helps prepare students for college-level jazz auditions wherever they choose to apply. Current students, faculty audition evaluators, and audition rhythm section members share their experiences and offer advice about auditioning. Admission is free, but advance registration is required. Our most recent workshop was held on December 8, 2012. We are planning on offering another workshop in spring 2013; the date will be announced soon.
Admission Open House
Prospective students and their families are invited to an evening at The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music. Enjoy dinner and music while meeting our faculty, alumni, and current students. Learn more about our school and find out how it can fit into your college plans. Admission is free, but advance registration is required. This year's open house takes place on Monday, November 19, 2012.
