Students interested in the dance program must apply and be accepted to Eugene Lang College. For the dance program, an audition is required in addition to the normal admission requirements. Applicants are encouraged to audition in person in New York City, but those who cannot come for a live audition may submit a video audition.

Open House and Auditions
This year, the dance program is hosting prospective dance students at three combined admission open house and audition events (one in the fall and two in the spring). Those who attend the open house enjoy light refreshments with representatives of the dance program and take a guided tour of The New School campus. The day continues with auditions at New York Live Arts (formerly Dance Theater Workshop), 219 West 19th Street. This is a great opportunity for interested students to ask questions about The New School, Eugene Lang College, and the dance program. Register now for a Dance Open House/Audition.

Video/DVD Audition Submissions
If you cannot audition in person, you must submit a video audition. Be sure your video is:
- in standard DVD or VHS format, or posted on YouTube or Vimeo
- 10-20 minutes long
- labeled with YOUR NAME and EUGENE LANG COLLEGE DANCE AUDITION
Part 1: A short demonstration of class exercise and phrase-work. This could be drawn from a combination of genres/styles. (5-10 minutes in length)
Part 2: Two to three solo works, either self-choreographed or choreographed by an instructor. The solos should highlight your strengths and personal style. (5-10 minutes in length)
