New Students Application Process

New students are admitted to the Preparatory Division by passing a faculty audition and a music theory placement test. There is a non-refundable application fee: $50 for applications received by March 15; $75 after March 15. Most students enter in the fall semester and enroll for the academic year (fall and spring semesters). The application deadline for the next fall semester is April 15, and auditions are held on June 1 and 2. Applications received after April 15 will be accepted, to the extent possible. The application deadline for the spring semester is December 1, and auditions are held in January. (See the academic calendar.) Note: Because the Techniques of Music course and most electives are year-long courses, course scheduling for students who enter in the spring semester is far less flexible than for those who enter in the fall.
Continuing Students Renewal Process
Returning students must renew by May 1 to ensure a place for the following year. The Renewal Form is automatically issued by the Preparatory Division office. It must be returned with the requested non-refundable tuition deposit by the May 1 deadline. Course schedules are sent to continuing students shortly before the start of classes.
