Students who study music theory at Mannes, enjoy the overall benefits of studying in a small, collegial conservatory and experience a theory program in which they:
- Develop hearing skills in classes that are taught as a primary element of study
- Receive substantial training in keyboard skills
- Take courses in 20th-century theory, with review of recent trends in theory offered in undergraduate and graduate programs
- Attend practice, sessions in paper presentation, and national conferences
- May choose to study ear training and dictation pedagogy at both undergraduate and graduate levels if interested in pursuing careers in private and classroom instruction
- Receive preparation and guidance in the graduate programs if they intend to pursue doctoral study
Congratulations to Yuval Shapira, winner of the 2013 Padre Martini Fugue Award. Winning Fugue
