Beginning in early June, students who have reserved their place at Parsons by submitting the required tuition deposit will receive an email from the Office of Advising at their New School email address. This email introduces students' academic advisors and provides directions for scheduling an advising appointment and for registration. All new students must submit the required tuition deposit in order to register. For more information about how to reserve your place in the class, visit the Accepted Students page.
There are a number of things that you need to do before you begin classes. New students should consult the university's New Student Information page for important information (including orientation programs, online tutorials, email accounts, and important deadlines) that will help to ensure a smooth transition to The New School.
All new students who are not native English speakers must take the English Language Placement Test, regardless of fluency, previous English coursework, degrees or diplomas from U.S. institutions, TOEFL scores, or SAT scores. If English is not your first language, you must take the test. There are no exceptions.
For detailed information about the test and placement process, visit the English Language Placement page.
