The Design and Technology BFA program focuses on time-based media, interaction, and experiential design. Through courses, collaborative projects, internships, and sponsored projects, the program immerses you in emerging design and art practices such as computational art, game design, physical computing, computer graphics, and experimental interfaces.
The Design and Technology program brings together a diverse community of independent thinkers who work on real-world projects; there is no typical Design and Technology student. The working professionals who make up the faculty bring real-world practical experience and cutting-edge skills to the classroom. Their industry connections help students secure internships at major local nonprofits and corporate firms, including Apple, Microsoft, Google, Nokia, Sony, TAG Heuer, NASA, the Red Cross, the United Nations, MTV, Nickelodeon, R/GA, and Eyebeam.
A Parsons education isn't just about working in isolation in a studio; it's about joining a network in New York City—the creative capital of the world. The Design and Technology lab is all about community. It is where undergraduate and graduate students work, eat, and play and help, inspire, and collaborate with one another. As students expand their creative community through internships, collaborative projects, and work with industry, they establish relationships that often endure long past graduation.
As a student in the Design and Technology program, you are encouraged to explore many areas. You can develop expertise in game design, animation, motion graphics, interaction design, and other creative technologies, which include mobile media and computer art.
Design and Technology is at the cutting edge of media-based art and design. Graduates pursue highly sought after positions in interactive and social media, film, television, motion graphics, animation, game design, advertising, graphic arts, and film. The program's focus on exploration and experimentation prepares students to succeed in the industry and the international art world.
