Degree seeking students of other divisions of The New School may seek advising at walk-in hours and attend career events (contact the main office for details). At this time, we do not provide services for students or alumni of Continuing Education or Certificate programs.

Career Services does not offer job placement, but many of our resources are designed to assist you in your search. These include one-on-one career advising; job and internship fairs; an online job database; résumé, cover letter and portfolio review; and panel discussions on career-related topics.
You should begin using Career Services resources early in your college career. Start by creating a résumé and attending our panel discussions and internship fairs, which are great places to network and meet professionals. Collect business cards and speak with professionals and your career advisor to learn about career paths in your field. An internship is a great way to learn more about a particular career path and gain professional skills. Ask your career advisor about applying for internships.
We host many of most popular, sought-after companies in design and related fields. These fairs give students opportunities to meet with company representatives on campus. Companies that have joined us in the past include Abercrombie and Fitch, Condé Nast, Frog, Gucci Group, Hasbro, MTV, and Walt Disney.
Career Services will help you make the most of your experience and education by making an in-depth review of your résumé and cover letter. Post your résumé to the Parsons Online Job Board and your advisor will review it within seven business days. You will receive an email when the review is complete. Misspelled words, incorrect punctuation, and grammatical errors will send your résumé straight to the trash: Be sure to have it reviewed by a faculty member, career counselor, or trusted friend with good editing skills before you send it out. The University Writing Center (71 Fifth Avenue, 9th floor) has trained tutors who can help you polish your skills.
You can find an internship by attending internship fairs, applying to postings on the Parsons Online Job Board, applying to companies directly, and asking your career advisor or faculty for ideas.

Most companies have no preference. Most AAS students at Parsons already have a bachelor's degree and some work experience, and some employers may appreciate that level of maturity.
The Parsons online job board is a comprehensive job database with more than 30,000 employers registered. It's a great place to find up-to-date internship and job postings.

Despite a challenging job market, 87 percent of Parsons 2011 graduates who responded to a survey are employed (either part-time, full-time, or freelance). This data is based on a 26 percent response rate.
Many offices of the university hire student assistants. On-campus jobs can be found through the Student Employment Office.
When selecting a major, it's important to learn more about career paths and industry trends. We're here to help Foundation students find a major by assessing their professional goals, skill sets, and interests. Students are encouraged to make an appointment with a career advisor to assist in making this important decision.
If you are a matriculated student or graduate of a Parsons degree program (bachelor's, master's, AAS), you can book an appointment with one of our Career Advisors by using this online booking form.
Each student/alumnus is limited to two appointments per semester. If you cancel an appointment with at least 24 hours notice, you will be invited to reschedule. If you miss both appointments without giving 24 hour notice, you cannot make another appointment until the next semester. If you are more than 15 minutes late to an appointment, Career Services reserves the right to reschedule. These policies ensure fair access to our services by all users.
