Empowerhouse brings together more than 100 students representing a range of design disciplines—communication design and technology, architecture, sustainable design, interior design, fashion design, and product design—as well as urban policy, management, and engineering. Through partnerships with Habitat for Humanity Washington DC and the DC Department of Housing and Community Development, the project reflects Parsons' focus on the real-world impact of design by developing housing for the local DC community of Deanwood.
