MA TESOL students interested in studying on site at The New School's Greenwich Village campus can expedite their studies by taking up to 12 credits (four courses) in our eight-week summer intensive program. This is an opportunity to meet and learn from our distinguished instructors and interact with your classmates face-to-face and experience a summer in New York City. If you are not a native speaker of English, it's an opportunity to be completely immersed in the language and apply your language skills to real-world experience in a vibrant, cosmopolitan setting.
Housing
Affordable housing is available in university residence halls. You have to apply separately for university housing. Email summerhousing@newschool.edu and identify yourself as a TESOL summer intensive student.
For information about registration and answers to your questions, contact the English Language Studies office: 212.229.5372 or elsc@newschool.edu.
Co-Curricular and Extracurricular activities
The summer intensive curriculum includes seminars, guest lectures, field trips, and workshops. In your own time you are encouraged to take advantage of the cultural opportunities New York offers beyond the classroom: see a Broadway play, enjoy a concert in Central Park or at a jazz club, and explore the historical sites, landmarks, and ethnic neighborhoods so vital to the city's character.
