Engagement, the media management program is open-minded,
interdisciplinary, and future oriented. Students explore the principles
of responsible and effective management and learn best practices in
today's communications industries--television, movies, music,
advertising, news, games, social media—while embracing change and
evolving media platforms. The program of study covers:
- Producing
- Media Economics and Finance
- Marketing
- Distribution
- Ethics
The program maintains a robust relationship with some of the biggest
and newest names in media and media management. Students have
opportunities to study other disciplines relevant to their interests by
taking electives within the broader Media Studies program and/or in
other graduate programs of The New School, including the Milano School
of International Affairs, Management and Urban Policy; Parsons The New
School for Design; and Mannes College The New School for Music.
The course of study is flexible, with a broad choice of electives
and the option to culminate your studies with a thesis or project. You can study full-time or
part-time. You can take classes at The New School in New York's
Greenwich Village, study online
from anywhere in the world, or combine studies in New York with online classes. Most classes on campus
meet late afternoons, evenings, and weekends to accommodate the
schedules of working professionals. The faculty includes leading media
scholars, industry executives, producers,
designers, and directors.
