The Resourceful Teacher
Resourcefulness, one of the most important traits of good teacher, is a skill that can be developed. This course explores a variety of practices that can help ESOL teachers be
more resourceful in the classroom, working with their peers, and working in their communities. It also explores state-of-the-art ideas, theories and practices in English Language Teaching and shows how they can be best adapted to different contexts worldwide.
Teaching Young Learners
Explore the latest developments in language teaching pedagogy oriented to children and adolescents (ages 4 – 18), such as Content and Language Integrated Instruction (CLIL),
teaching English with technology, teaching language creatively, and fostering communication in the classroom.
Teaching Teachers
This course explores principles and practices of teaching language teachers. Topics include: designing courses, seminars and workshops; designing materials for teacher
learning; supervising teachers; alternatives to traditional teacher education/training, and ways of supporting ongoing professional development. Prerequisite: prior experience in ESOL teacher training as a lecturer, director of studies, department head, mentor, supervisor, or cooperating teacher.

Cultural Program
Group field trips to historical places in New York city: Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, Empire State Building, Rockefeller Center, etc
"Teaching with..." workshops: Choice of Metropolitan Museum of Art (Social Studies), Museum of Natural History (Science), or the Museum of Modern Art (Art and Design).
Night on Broadway: play and dinner; to be announced (optional; not included in tuition)
