When you choose to live in student housing, you can expect to encounter new challenges, meet new friends, and basically have a good time while in college. We certainly want you to experience all those things but there is even more to gain.
Student Housing's mission is to enhance your learning experience by building residential communities that support your academic and personal growth. We provide secure and supportive environments that can ease the transition from home to college. Through shared experiences and activities, you will discover and appreciate differences, learn to live more independently, and experience personal growth at an important time in your life.
Each of our residences is unique and provides something for everyone. Our strong and very active residence life staff gives students exceptional programming and close personal attention in all of our residence. Our Greenwich Village residences—13th Street Residence, and Stuyvesant Park Residence—find themselves close to Union Square, Astor Place and Washington Square Park. Our 20th Street Residence is found in the heart of Chelsea, a wonderful neighborhood with a rich history.
What is often overlooked when thinking about student housing is that not only do we give shelter to over 1,600 students in the Greenwich Village and Wall Street areas but we also provide exciting social and educational programs and activities for our residents. Through the enthusiasm and creativity of our resident advisors, you will be exposed to diverse programs that take advantage of the rich traditions of The New School and the cultural opportunities of New York City. Through purposeful programming that addresses your intellectual, artistic and creative efforts, our residence life program aims to foster the development of the whole student. We endeavor to provide comfortable and inclusive communities where students and staff can succeed in promoting cultural awareness, academic success, sustainability, and the development of new ideas and diverse experiences.
