Affordable student housing within walking distance of The New School is available for the four weeks of the Lang New York Summer Intensive workshops: move in May 27; move out June 22.
New York City is one of the safest big cities in the United States. However, rents are high and a suitable short-term sublet or share may be hard to find. For that reason, we strongly encourage undergraduates visiting from outside the metropolitan region to live in a university residence hall. Housing is guaranteed to Eugene Lang College summer students who apply by April 1.
New School residences offer:
- Furnished suite-style units with shower bathrooms in the suite (all summer housing is shared)
- Kitchenettes with full refrigerators
- 24-hour security
- Air-conditioned rooms
- High-speed Internet and cable television jacks in the rooms
- On-site laundry facilities
- Common lounges and study rooms
- Gyms and art studios in some facilities
- Walking distance to The New School and easy access to public transportation
- Resident Advisors on duty nightly from 5:00 p.m.–8:00 a.m.

To apply for housing
First, register for a New York Summer Intensive course. As soon as you receive confirmation of your registration, you can submit the online application for summer housing. Deadline to apply for guaranteed housing is April 1.
Paid room reservations not claimed on the arrival date will be canceled. Students must be checked out by Saturday, June 22 at noon.
Cost: A flat rate of $1,980.
Refund Policy: Cancel up to by 4 weeks prior to check-in: 100% refund; Cancel 3 weeks prior to check-in: 50% refund; Cancel 2 weeks prior to check-in: no refund
Meals: There is no meal plan, but residents can cook in their rooms. In the neighborhood, there are restaurants, cafes, and fast-food venues to fit every need and budget.
Guests/Curfew
Entry to our residence halls is monitored at all times. Every residence hall has a security guard at the front desk 24 hours per day. All guests, including parents, guardians, and siblings, must leave a photo ID and register in the guest log when visiting.
Students 19 years of age and older may request overnight guest accommodations which are available on a limited basis.
Students 18 years of age or younger as of the date of their check-in to the residence hall are subject to curfew and may not have overnight guests in their rooms.

Although we highly recommend it, students are not required to live on campus. If you are visiting from out of town and prefer to find your own housing, the Housing Office maintains a list of shares and sublets that may be of assistance.
